Cold night set the scene

Memories of Xmas in July – PDF

It was cold enough for snow on the evening of our second Xmas in July Ceilidh and that seemed to set the scene for a great event.

The venue was decorated with a Christmas theme . . . a big Christmas tree, a man-size Santa Claus, tinsel everywhere, and candelabras and Christmas crackers on each table.

The Heel n Toe Band came prepared, playing Christmas tunes for many of the dances instead of traditional Scottish music, and our Honorary Piper, David Steele, showed what a versatile instrument the bagpipes can be, by playing a medley of Christmas carols and tunes during his spot on the bill.

The majority of the guests were dressed in Christmas colours, and they had all come along ready to have a good time, throwing themselves wholeheartedly into the evening’s activities.

MacSanta made an appearance to help hand out prizes to the raffle winners, and he seemed to enjoy the fact that the majority of the winners were ladies!!

The Committee did a superb job in organising the event (there is a bot more to the Xmas in July Ceilidh than most) and the Yokine Bowling Club turned out to be an ideal venue for such an event.

If anyone who attended the ceilidh would like to provide the Society with feedback, just complete and send in the form on the Contact Us page . . . we’d be happy to hear from you.
