Following our recent survey, which demonstrated considerable support within the Perth community, we are delighted to announce that the 2020 Perth Saint Andrew’s Day ball is going ahead and that tickets are now available for sale.

Under current conditions, the Ball is able to proceed as normal, but in the event that the Ball has to be cancelled due to changes in the Covid-19 situation or for any other reason, all monies received by us will be refunded.

Entertainment this year will kick off at 7pm with drinks in the ballroom lobby to the accompaniment of our Piper. Once we are inside the ballroom, there will be a display by the Drums & Pipes of 51 ACU Swan Regiment; a four course dinner, interspersed with speeches and toasts to suitably mark the occasion and a display of Highland dancing. There will be dancing throughout the evening, mostly Scottish reels, but with some ‘ballroom dances’ for those that prefer a more sedate lifestyle! The drinks package runs through till 11pm.

Dance practice classes

As always, we want you to get the most out of your evening, which means you are strongly advised to know at least some of the reels. We do not “call the dances” and spending time conducting walk-throughs reduces the number of dances we have time for, so to help you, we will be holding a series of evening dance classes, starting in the first week of October.

Details of where and when the dance classes are being held are available on this website. They start at 7:30pm, so there is plenty of time to get there after work, having had something to eat first! These classes are a golden opportunity for complete beginners to learn the reels most commonly danced at Scottish Balls and also for more experienced dancers to refresh their memories! You are welcome to come along even if you are not planning to go to the Ball.

Accommodation at the Pan Pacific

We have arranged a special rate with the Pan Pacific for those wishing to spend the night there.
Prices start at $134.30 per couple for a Deluxe room.
For those interested in taking up this offer, use the ‘Book Accommodation’ button which will take you to our dedicated reservation page.

Bookings

To book Ball tickets, use the ‘Make a Booking’ button, which will take you to our online booking page on the TryBooking website.

Please specify on the booking website if you have any special dietary requirements or seating requests. We will try to meet seating requests as far as possible. Groups of 10 will be seated together on one table and smaller groups and single folk will be grouped together as carefully as we can manage.

Bookings will close on Saturday evening, 21 November (to give us time to collect the necessary quantity of haggis), UNLESS tickets sell out earlier. Given the interest in this event we have received already, that is quite possible and you are therefore advised to book sooner rather than later!
Another reason for doing so is that all bookings received by us by Wednesday evening, 11 November, will go into a draw to receive a one night stay at the Pan Pacific in a Premier King Room for two guests.

The dances at this year’s ball will be:

  • The Gay Gordons
  • A Highland Welcome
  • Strip The Willow
  • St Bernard’s Waltz
  • The Eightsome Reel
  • Good Hearted Glasgow
  • Virginia Reel
  • The Reel of the 51 st Division
  • The Dashing White Sergeant
  • The Duke of Perth
  • Petronella
