Following on from our well attended and successful St Andrew’s Day Ball on 27th November we are delighted to announce our 2021 Burns Supper will be going ahead on 25th January 2021 and tickets are now available for purchase.

Please be aware that in the event the Burns Supper has to be cancelled due to change in the COVID-19 situation, or for any other reason, all monies received by us will be refunded.

Entertainment will commence at 7.00pm with pre-drinks in the Ballroom Lobby to the accompaniment of our honorary piper Alistair McLaren. Once inside the Ballroom there will be the traditional ‘address to the haggis’, a three-course dinner starting with haggis, neeps and tatties and the traditional Burns Supper speeches and toasts to mark the occasion. There will be dancing throughout the evening, mostly Scottish jigs and reels, with a few ‘ballroom dances’ for those that prefer a more placid style of dancing. The evening will include a drinks package that will runs through to 11.00pm plus a ‘wee’ dram for all our guests to toast the haggis.

Dance practice classes:

We will be holding two dance practice evenings prior to the Burns Supper. If you attended the dance practice classes for the 2020 Ball, then these two practice classes will be a lot easier to follow as we will be repeating the same dances.
Details of where and when the dance classes are being held are available on this website. They start at 7.30pm, which leaves you plenty of time to get home from work and have something to eat first. Should you find yourself rushed for time, the Irish Club do meals on a Tuesday night at a very reasonable cost. The classes are a great opportunity for beginners to learn a few of the more common jigs and reels we will be doing on the night and for those that can dance to refresh their memories! There is also the opportunity for some social time after the dancing to get to know other. The bar at the Irish Club will be open until 10.00pm.

The Dances at the Burns Supper 2021 will be:

  • The Gay Gordons
  • A Highland Welcome
  • The Dashing White Sergeant
  • Virginia Reel
  • The Reel of the 51st Division
  • The Duke of Perth
  • St Bernard’s Waltz
  • The Eightsome Reel
  • The Petronella
  • Strip the Willow (Orcadian)
