Time: 6.30pm until 11.30pm

Following on from our successful and well attended events last year, we begin 2023 with our annual Chieftain’s Ceilidh.
The evening will commence at 6.30pm with a ‘piped’ welcome at the door by our honorary piper Alisdair McLaren followed by a selection of Scottish tunes from the 51 ACU Swan Regiment Drums and Pipes.

There will be a two course buffet style meal complete with a complimentary bottle of red and white wine on each table. There will be bar facilities which will serve drinks up until 11.00pm.

Dancing will commence around 8.40pm with a good selection of Scottish jigs and reels, with a few ‘ballroom dances’ for those that prefer a more placid style of dancing. We will include a couple of new dances for the ceilidh, so come along to the dance practice nights.
The evening will include a collection of tunes by our honorary piper, our traditional raffle with plenty of prizes and a Chieftain’s dram to celebrate our 85th Anniversary.

Dance practice evenings

We will be holding three dance practice evenings prior to the Chieftain’s Ceilidh. If you attended the dance practice evenings for the 2022 Ball and 2023 Burns Supper, then these three practice evenings will be a lot easier to follow as we will be repeating many of the same dances.

Details of where and when the dance classes together with a list of the dances. are being held are available via this link:

Dancing starts at 7.30pm, which leaves you plenty of time to get home from work and have something to eat first. The classes are a great opportunity for beginners to learn a few of the more common jigs and reels we will be doing on the night and for those that can dance to refresh their memories!

There is also the opportunity for some social time after the dancing to get to know others. The bar at the Irish Club will be open until 10.00pm.
As an incentive to attend we will be giving away a $100 gift voucher to one lucky person who attends all three dance practice evenings.
